Exemptions From the Requirement for Animal Welfare Export Certificates Under the Animal Welfare Act 1999 Notice No. 1145 Having had regard to the matters set out in section 48 (3) of the Animal Welfare Act 1999 and being satisfied that the risk to the welfare of the animals specified in this notice is minimal, I hereby give notice that: Pursuant to sections 40 (2) (a) and section 48 (1) the following animals are exempt from the requirements of section 40 (1): - crayfish - crab - fish - lobster - pet animals departing on any ship. And, that the following animals are exempt from the requirements of section 40 (1) on the condition that the animals are exported to a destination being less than 6 hours travel time from the point of departure in New Zealand: - birds not subject to the Wildlife Act 1953 or the Trade in Endangered Species Act 1989 - camelids - cats - cattle - deer - dogs - ferrets - goats - guinea pigs - hamsters - hares - hedgehogs - horses - octopus - pigs - possums - rabbits - ratites - rodents - sheep - squid - wallabies Dated at Wellington this 25th day of November 1999.
