Notice of Decision of the Disciplinary Tribunal of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of New Zealand At a hearing held on the 20th day of August 1999, the Disciplinary Tribunal of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of New Zealand heard 4 charges against John Richard Dent of Hastings. John Richard Dent appeared before the disciplinary tribunal and pleaded guilty to the charges as laid. After hearing submissions on behalf of the professional conduct committee and the member, the disciplinary tribunal found the member guilty of misconduct in a professional capacity, conduct unbecoming of an accountant, negligence and/or incompetence, and breaching the code of ethics of the institute. Acting under rule 21.31 of the Rules of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of New Zealand the disciplinary tribunal ordered that John Richard Dent be removed from the register of members of the institute. John Richard Dent was also ordered to pay to the institute the sum of $3,587.63 in respect of the costs and expenses relating to the hearing before the disciplinary tribunal and the investigation by the professional conduct committee. The disciplinary tribunal also ordered that its decision be published in the Chartered Accountants Journal of New Zealand, the New Zealand Gazette, and a daily newspaper circulating in the Hawke's Bay area, with mention of the member's name and locality.
