Notice of Proposed Land Transport (Driver Licensing) Amendment Rule 1999 The Land Transport Safety Authority (LTSA), in accordance with section 161(2) of the Land Transport Act 1998, gives notice that draft Land Transport (Driver Licensing) Amendment Rule 1999 (Rule 91001/1) is available for public comment. This draft legislation is intended to amend Land Transport (Driver Licensing) Rule 1999, which sets out the requirements for obtaining and renewing a driver licence, and for driver licensing service providers. Land Transport (Driver Licensing) Amendment Rule 1999 proposes changes relating, in particular, to Passenger (P) endorsements and to the types of documentation that are acceptable as primary identification for obtaining a driver licence. Further proposed changes are discussed in an accompanying policy paper. A copy of the draft rule may be obtained by calling the LTSA Help Desk on Freephone 0800 699 000 or by visiting the LTSA website at: www.ltsa.govt.nz/legislation/index.html and clicking on RULES SUBMISSIONS. The draft rule is also available for public viewing at the LTSA's 7 regional offices. A copy has been sent to those who have registered their interest in amendments to Land Transport (Driver Licensing) Rule 1999. Submissions on the draft rule close on 28 July 1999.
