Introduction of Code of Practice for the Attachment of Logging Bolsters to Trucks and Trailers Used in the Transport of Logs Pursuant to regulation 16a (1) (f) of the Heavy Motor Vehicle Regulations 1974, and pursuant to powers sub-delegated to me by the Director of Land Transport Safety, I, Peter Waring, Senior Engineer, hereby determine that the Code of Practice specified in Schedule 1, and published as a standard in the New Zealand Gazette on 14 January 1999, will take effect on the dates specified in Schedule 2. Schedule 1 Bolster Attachment Code (issue 27 November 1998) issued on behalf of the Log Transport Safety Committee. Schedule 2 New Vehicles New vehicles first registered after 1 June 1999, fitted with logging bolsters must be equipped with bolster mounts certified in compliance with the code by persons approved by the Director of Land Transport Safety whose approval is supported by the recommendation of the Log Transport Safety Committee, and have their certificates of loading endorsed accordingly. Existing Vehicles Existing vehicles must be equipped with bolster mounts in compliance with the code before examination for their first certificate of fitness immediately following 1 October 2000, and have their certificates of loading endorsed accordingly. The mounts are to be certified by persons approved by the Director of Land Transport Safety whose approval is supported by the recommendation of the Log Transport Safety Committee.
