Notice of Proposed Speed Limits Rule The Land Transport Safety Authority (LTSA), in accordance with section 10 (1) (a) of the Land Transport Act 1993, gives notice that draft Rule 54001: Land Transport Safety (Setting of Speed Limits) is available for public comment. This draft rule proposes requirements for transferring the responsibility for the setting of speed limits from the Minister of Transport to road-controlling authorities. A copy of draft rule 54001 may be obtained by telephoning the LTSA Help Desk on Freephone 0800 699 000. The draft rule is available for public viewing at the LTSA's 7 regional offices. Copies have been sent to the registered interest groups who expressed an interest in the preliminary draft. Submissions on draft rule 54001 close on 13 February 1998.
