Exemption From Survey and Manning Requirements for Vessels Owned by Family Trusts In the matter of the Maritime Transport Act 1994 Pursuant to sections 134 and 206 of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, I, Russell Paul Kilvington, Director of Maritime Safety, hereby exempt the following class of ship from all the requirements of the Shipping (Manning of Restricted Limit Ships) Regulations 1986, and all of the survey requirements of Part X of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, namely, all vessels which are owned by the trustees of a family trust and which, but for subclause (c) of the definition of ``pleasure craft'' in section 2 (1) of that Act would have been pleasure craft. ``Family trust'' means a trust (under a settlement, declaration of trust or other instrument or by testamentary disposition or otherwise) which is exclusively or principally for the benefit of the respective direct lineal descendants, parents, grandparents, siblings, and/or spouse of no more than 2 named persons, or of both of those named persons.
