Helicopter Landings on Taumaka Island, Haast Pursuant to regulation 18 (h) of the Marine Mammals Protection Regulations 1992, the Director-General of Conservation hereby authorises only helicopters being used as part of operations for scientific research, or for management of the island's natural and historic resources, or for hut and facilities maintenance, to be closer than 150 metres (500 feet) horizontally from a point directly above any New Zealand fur seal (but no closer than 10 metres from any New Zealand fur seal), for the purpose of landing on the landing pad on the island of Taumaka in the Open Bay Islands near Haast. The landing pad is approximately located at NZMS 260 map grid reference point F37 21796 56972. Note: This authority is separate from any access authority that is required from the landowner.
