Pursuant to section 200d of the Local Government Act 1974, as enacted by the Local Government Amendment Act (No. 2) 1992, The Canterbury Regional Council notifies that the council has from midnight 18 October 1995, levied an increased regional petrol tax for the purposes of funding passenger services. The rate of tax is 0.84 cents, plus G.S.T., per litre of petrol sold. The area of the Canterbury region to which the tax applies is the area of The Christchurch City Council and the area of the Lyttleton/Mount Herbert Ward of The Banks Peninsula District Council.
