Notice of New and Altered Official Geographic Names and a Discontinued Crown Protected Area Name for Ahuriri Hapū Claims Settlement Act 2021

Pursuant to sections 62, 63, 68­ and 75 of the Ahuriri Hapū Claims Settlement Act 2021 (“Settlement Act 2021”), the New Zealand Geographic Board Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa (“Board”) hereby gives notice of six new and altered official geographic names and one discontinued Crown protected area (“CPA”) name, as described in the Schedules below.

The new and altered official geographic names and discontinued CPA name took effect on 3 March 2022, being the settlement date specified in the Settlement Act 2021. Pursuant to section 64 of the Settlement Act 2021, the Board may in the future agree to alter any official geographic name listed in Schedule 1 with the written consent of the trustees of Mana Ahuriri Trust.

Bluff Hill, Hospital Hill, Napier Hill, Scinde Island (local use names)

Rotoroa

The smaller of two lakes, approximately 2km east of Kuripapango Hill in Kaweka Forest Park. NZTopo50-BJ37 900375.
