New Zealand Transport Agency (Speed Limits on State Highways) Amendment Bylaw 2016/7

Pursuant to section 61(3) of the Government Roading Powers Act 1989, section 22AB of the Land Transport Act 1998 and the Land Transport Rule: Setting of Speed Limits 2003, the NZ Transport Agency hereby makes the following bylaw.

Bylaw

1. Title and commencement—This bylaw may be cited as the New Zealand Transport Agency (Speed Limits on State Highways) Amendment Bylaw 2016/7 and will come into force on and from 21 December 2016.

2. Amendment—The New Zealand Transport Agency (Speed Limits on State Highways) Bylaw 2010/10* is hereby amended by:

  • Inserting line 1A in Schedule 1 to read:

  • Inserting line 20A in Schedule 2 to read:
    Section of State Highway: The section of State Highway 1N at Brynderwyn Hills from 150m north of State Highway 12 to a point 150m south of State Highway 12.
    Speed Limit: The variable speed limit may operate when a vehicle is detected approaching the intersection on State Highway 12 or turning right on State Highway 1 and may continue to operate until those vehicles have cleared the intersection, as specified in condition 2 of the Rural Intersection Active Warning System Variable Speed Limit – State Highway 1 and State Highway 12 Intersection, Brynderwyn Notice, New Zealand Gazette, 5 May 2016, Issue No. 40, Notice No. 2016-au2529. When a variable speed limit sign installed on the section of State highway displays the numerals “60”, the speed limit is 60km/h. At all other times the speed limit is 100km/h.”
  • Inserting line 26A in Schedule 2 to read:
    Section of State Highway: The section of State Highway 10 at Oruaiti from 755m east of Simmental Lane to 1145m east of Simmental Lane.
    Speed Limit: The variable speed limit may operate for a maximum period of:
    1. 35 minutes before the start of school until the start of school;
    2. 20 minutes at the end of school, being no earlier than five minutes before the end of school; and
    3. 10 minutes at any time when vehicles are entering or leaving the school grounds or there is pedestrian or cycle activity on the road outside the school
    as specified in the New Zealand Gazette, 18 August 2016, Issue No. 72, Notice No. 2016-au4743. When a variable speed limit sign installed on the section of State highway displays the numerals “60”, the speed limit is 60km/h. At all other times the speed limit is 100km/h.”
  • Inserting line 82A in Schedule 2 to read:
    Section of State Highway: The section of State Highway 16 at Woodhill from 230m north of Restall Road to 200m south of Kiwitahi Road.
    Speed Limit: The variable speed limit may operate for a maximum period of:
    1. 35 minutes before the start of school until the start of school;
    2. 20 minutes at the end of school, being no earlier than five minutes before the end of school; and
    3. 10 minutes at any time when vehicles are entering or leaving the school grounds or there is a pedestrian or cycle activity on the road outside the school

    Section of State Highway: The section of State Highway 1B, Puketaha, from the intersection of State Highway 1B and State Highway 1B Marshmeadow Road to the intersection of State Highway 1B and State Highway 1B Telephone Road.
    Speed Limit: The variable speed limit may operate when a vehicle is detected approaching the intersection on State Highway 1B Marshmeadow Road and State Highway 1B Telephone Road or turning right on State Highway 1B Holland Road and may continue to operate until those vehicles have cleared the intersection, as specified in condition 3 of the notice titled Variable Speed Limit at Rural Intersections Notice, New Zealand Gazette, 9 August 2012, No. 94, page 2598. When a variable speed limit sign installed on the section of State highway displays the numerals “70”, the speed limit is 70km/h. At all other times the speed limit is 100km/h.”

3. Authority to make bylaw—This bylaw was made by the Chief Advisor, Highways and Network Operations, under delegated authority of the NZ Transport Agency.
