New Zealand Transport Agency (Speed Limits on State Highways) Amendment Bylaw 2016/5

Pursuant to section 61(3) of the Government Roading Powers Act 1989, section 22AB of the Land Transport Act 1998 and the Land Transport Rule: Setting of Speed Limits 2003, the NZ Transport Agency hereby makes the following bylaw.

Bylaw

1. Title and commencement—This bylaw may be cited as the New Zealand Transport Agency (Speed Limits on State Highways) Amendment Bylaw 2016/5 and will come into force on and from 23 June 2016.

2. Amendment—The New Zealand Transport Agency (Speed Limits on State Highways) Bylaw 2010/10* is hereby amended by:

  • Inserting line 601A in Schedule 1 to read:

  • Amending line 736 in Schedule 2 to read:
    Section of State Highway: The southbound section of State Highway 2 from the gantry located approximately 1856m north-east of the north-eastern face of the central pier of the Ngauranga Flyover to the southern end of State Highway 2. The variable restriction may be imposed on part or all of this length in accordance with the signs displayed on each part.
    Speed limit: A variable speed limit of 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 or 100km/h applies from the point on the State highway at which a variable speed limit sign facing the road user is displayed to the point in the direction of travel on the State highway at which a traffic sign, or a variable speed sign, indicating that a different speed limit applies is installed.

    The speed limit that applies is:

    1. that indicated by the numerals displayed on the variable speed limit sign; or
    2. 100km/h, if the variable speed limit sign is blank.
  • Amending line 737 in Schedule 2 to read:
    Section of State Highway: The northbound section of State Highway 2 from the southern end of State Highway 2 to the gantry located approximately 1856m north-east of the north-eastern face of the central pier of the Ngauranga Flyover. The variable restriction may be imposed on part or all of this length in accordance with the signs displayed on each part.
    Speed limit: A variable speed limit of 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 or 100km/h applies from the point on the State highway at which a variable speed limit sign facing the road user is displayed to the point in the direction of travel on the State highway at which a traffic sign, or a variable speed sign, indicating that a different speed limit applies is installed.

3. Authority to make bylaw—This bylaw was made by the Chief Advisor, Highways and Network Operations, under delegated authority of the NZ Transport Agency.
