Pursuant to section 188 of the Fisheries Act 1996,
the Manager Stock Strategies, Ministry of Fisheries
(acting pursuant to delegated authority in accordance with section 41 of the State Sector Act 1988), gives the following notice.
N o t i c e
1. Title-(1) This notice is the Fisheries (Conversion Factors) Amendment Notice 2006 and is part of the principal notice.
(2) In this notice, "principal notice" means the Fisheries (Conversion Factors) Notice 2005 (No. F350)*.
2. Commencement-This notice comes into effect on
1 October 2006.
3. Interpretation-Clause 3 of the principal notice is amended by:
(a) deleting paragraph (iii) in the interpretation of dressed in relation to all species of finfish not otherwise listed, and substituting the following item:
"(iii) whether or not the tail has been removed, no part of the tail cut shall be forward of the posterior base of either the hindmost dorsal fin or the hindmost anal fin, whichever is near the caudal fin; and";
(b) inserting after (vi) in the interpretation of skin-on trimmed fillets relating to hoki the following paragraph:
"(vii) The pleural ribs may be removed by trimming."
4. Part 15 of Schedule 1-Part 15 of Schedule 1 of the principal notice is amended:
(a) by inserting in the heading the words
"and Ray"
after the word
"Skate"
and deleting the words
"(Family Rajidae)"
and substituting the words
"(Class Chondrichthyes)";
(b) by inserting in the heading the words
"(WRS)"
after the word
"Wings";
(c) by inserting in the illustration the words
"and rays"
after
"in relation to skates".
5. Part 1 of Schedule 2-Part 1 of Schedule 2 of the principal notice is amended by omitting from the column headed "Dressed":
(a) in respect of the item relating to orange roughy (ORH), the expression
"2.10"
and substituting the expression
"2.05";
(b) in respect of the item relating to silver warehou (SWA), the expression
"1.70"
and substituting the expression
"1.65".
6. Part 2 of Schedule 2-Part 2 of Schedule 2 is amended by omitting from 28. the word
"or"
and substituting the word
"and".

Explanatory Note
This note is not part of the notice, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This notice, which comes into force on 1 October 2006, amends the Fisheries (Conversion Factors) Notice 2005.
The Notice makes the following changes:
(a) The interpretation of the landed state of dressed is amended to specify that the tail may or may not be removed;
(b) The interpretation of the landed state of skin-on trimmed fillets relating to hoki is amended to specify that the pleural ribs may be removed by trimming;
(c) Correction to the reference to skates and rays.
(d) The conversion factor for orange roughy dressed is decreased from 2.10 to 2.05;
(e) The conversion factor for silver warehou dressed is decreased from 1.70 to 1.65;
